[Hinews] SEJONG, South Korea — Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital has earned a top score of 94.6 points, achieving a Grade 1 rating in the 2023 Healthcare Imaging Appropriateness Evaluation conducted by South Korea’s Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA).

The assessment, covering 1,694 medical institutions across the country, evaluated 14 key metrics, including patient evaluation rates for computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography (PET) scans, implementation of radiation dose reduction programs, and radiologist interpretation rates.

With the growing use of radiation in diagnostic imaging, patient safety and quality control have become paramount. South Korea initiated its imaging oversight program in 2017, with full enforcement starting in 2023.

Dr. Kwon Kye-chul, president of Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to excellence. “We will continue to prioritize minimizing radiation exposure and contrast agent side effects while enhancing the quality of our imaging services,” he said.
