[Hinews] SEOUL, South Korea — KonKuk University Hospital’s Robotic Surgery Center will introduce the cutting-edge fifth-generation Da Vinci surgical robot (DV5) by late August, with clinical use slated to begin in September.

Built on the foundation of the fourth-generation Da Vinci Xi, the DV5 incorporates roughly 150 upgrades. A key innovation is the “Force Feedback” technology, enabling surgeons to precisely gauge and control the force exerted on tissues during operations. This is expected to reduce tissue trauma while improving surgical accuracy and patient safety.

The system also features ergonomic enhancements, such as curved armrests and an improved viewer, designed to enhance surgeon comfort. A high-resolution vision system further refines intraoperative visibility and color fidelity, which hospital officials anticipate will elevate surgical efficiency and patient satisfaction.

The Robotic Surgery Center at KonKuk University Hospital currently operates two Da Vinci Xi systems and a single-port Da Vinci SP robot. The addition of the DV5 is expected to increase patient access to robotic-assisted surgeries.
