In the rankings, Asan Medical Center placed fourth in oncology, gastroenterology, and endocrinology, sixth in neurology and urology, and eighth in orthopedics. Additional specialties, including cardiology (17th), pulmonology (20th), and cardiac surgery (30th), also ranked within the global top 100.
Among South Korean hospitals, Asan led the nation in six specialties: gastroenterology, endocrinology, neurology, orthopedics, cardiology, and cardiac surgery.
The rankings, released on September 11, 2025, were determined through a comprehensive methodology, with 85% of the score based on a survey of medical professionals across 30 countries, 10% on international hospital accreditations, and 5% on the implementation of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs).

Earlier this year, Asan Medical Center also distinguished itself in Newsweek’s 2025 World’s Best Hospitals comprehensive rankings, securing 25th place globally—the highest among South Korean institutions.
As a leading center for treating complex and severe conditions, Asan Medical Center continues to attract international patients and medical professionals. In 2024, the hospital treated approximately 19,000 foreign patients. Over the past decade, more than 3,500 healthcare professionals from 88 countries have participated in training programs at the facility.
Hospital President Seung-il Park emphasized a commitment to ongoing improvement, stating, “We will continue to refine our clinical systems and patient safety protocols based on these evaluations to deliver
world-class care.”
