Since adopting the Da Vinci Xi system in 2016, Ilsan Hospital has performed approximately 2,500 robotic surgeries as of August 2025. The integration of the Da Vinci SP system is expected to further elevate surgical precision and patient comfort, reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to cutting-edge medical technology.
The Da Vinci SP, a state-of-the-art platform, enables surgeons to perform complex procedures through a single 2.5-centimeter incision, inserting a flexible robotic arm and high-definition 3D camera. This minimally invasive approach reduces postoperative pain and scarring, offering patients a less traumatic surgical experience. The system’s advanced design minimizes instrument collisions, enhancing both safety and accuracy while enabling precise navigation in confined anatomical spaces.

Hospital officials anticipate that the Da Vinci SP will accelerate patient recovery times and shorten hospital stays, delivering significant functional benefits. The system is poised to transform the treatment of various cancers, including gynecologic and thyroid cancers, by enabling highly precise interventions tailored to individual patient needs.
