남성 여유증 환자, 지방 아니라 유선이 문제... 치료법은? [심영관 원장 칼럼]

남성 여유증(여성형 유방)은 체내의 남성 호르몬과 여성 호르몬 간의 불균형이 발생하거나 여성 호르몬에 대한 유선조직이 민감하게 반응하면서 여성의 유방처럼 발달하게 되는 증상이다. 유선 증식의 정도와 형태를 결정하는 것은 호르몬 자극의 기간과 강도, 개개 유선 조직의 감수성이다. 정상 성인 남성에서 남성 호르몬과 여성 호르몬 생성 비율은 약 100:1이며, 혈중 농도는 300:1이다. 성인 남성에서는 남성 호르몬의 농도가 훨씬 높으므로 유방이 발달하지 않는 것이다. 하지만 남성 호르몬이 감소되거나 여성 호르몬이 증가하면 유선 조직이 자극을 받아 증식하게 돼 여유증이 발생할 수 있다. 사춘기의 여성형 유방, 약제에 의한 경우,

시력이 나빠 안경이나 렌즈를 착용해 본 사람이라면, 한 번쯤 시력교정술을 고민해 봤을 것이다. 요즘은 라식이나 라섹처럼 각막을 절삭하는 방식의 레이저 수술이 많이 알려져 있고, 비교적 간편한 방법으로 받아들여진다. 하지만 시력이 지나치게 나쁜 사람들, 특히 -6디옵터 이상의 고도근시나 심한 난시를 가진 경우라면 얘기가 좀 다르다.이러한 경우에는 교정해야 할 굴절 오차가 너무 커서 각막을 많이 깎아야 한다. 이때 남는 각막이 너무 얇아지면 눈의 구조적 안정성이 떨어질 수 있다. 그 결과 수술 후 부작용 위험이 커지기 때문에, 아예 수술이 불가능하다는 진단을 받기도 한다. 최근에는 각막 절삭량을 줄이는 기술들이 개발됐지만
